Glee catch up: Season 1 Part 1

Fox's huge hit, Glee is in the middle of its 3rd highly successful season. If you haven't been watching it, keep reading and I'll tell you everything you need to know. In the first season, the young Spanish teacher, Mr. Schuester at McKinley High School in Ohio starts up the glee club after the director is fired. He calls it New Directions and 5 people audition. They are truly terrible at first; all decent singers, but uncoordinated and inexperienced, except for of course, miss Rachel Berry. Rachel is a fantastic singer and has been performing her whole life, and never misses a chance to shine in the spotlight. While Mr. Schuester is trying to recruit new members to join, he hears sophomore Finn Hudson singing in the locker room after football practice. Mr. Shu convinces Finn to join by giving him extra credit in Spanish, which he is struggling in. Rachel is thrilled with this because she has a huge crush on Finn, even though he has a girlfriend. Finn's girlfriend is your typical football quarterback's girlfriend, of course head cheerleader, or as they say "cheerio", Quinn Fabray. Quinn is a mean, smart girl and her best friends are Cheerios Brittany Pearce and Santana Lopez. By the second episode, Quinn is extremely unhappy about Finn and Rachel's new friendship, and Sue Sylvester is just as unhappy about Mr. Shu's glee club. Sue decides the best way to bring it down is from the inside. Quinn, Brittany, and Santana all try out for the glee club and Mr.Shu is only too happy to have more members, as they need 12 to compete at upcoming sectionals. A few of Finn's football friends have joined, so now they have exactly 12 people. Coming up to sectionals, Mr. Shu notices they aren't taking glee as seriously because their competition is a school for the deaf and a school for juvenile delinquent girls. To get them back into the competition, he has the do a girls vs. boys mash up competition. Meanwhile, Finn is feeling stressed with his schoolwork, glee club, football, staying popular, and everything else on his mind. He finds himself exhausted, and visits the school nurse. She gives him something she took in high school to stay up beat and energetic: vitamin D. Finn feels fantastic after using it and has all the boys take it, giving them the energy for a spectacular performance. One of the boys, Kurt Hummel, tells the girls how they did so well and the girls take a page out of their book and do the same thing. Principal Figgins doesn't approve and instates someone to help Mr. Shu direct the glee club because he wasn't doing a satisfactory job. Unfortunately, he picks Sue Sylvester of all people. She first splits them up and tries to turn them against each other. After a week or two though, she resigns. Somehow she manages to get their set list for sectionals and has the schools going against McKinley do their songs so it will look like the New Directions copied them. Miraculously, they come up with two songs and some rough choreography that wins them first place!
