Christmas Special

Alright, so I am really disappointed tonight. The songs were pretty good, but all I can say is two things: A. This is why high school juniors are not directors in real life, and B. It is a really good thing Artie doesn't write glee. That was the worst 25 minutes of glee I think I have ever seen. Luckily, my two favorites saved the day from it being absolutely horrendous. Sam Evans and Rory Flanagan, you make up about 50% (or more) of my liking for the show. Seriously, they were the only ones who had their heads on straight. Oh, and Quinn. When Quinn and Sue are being more reasonable and nice then almost anyone else, you know you have a problem. I mean, it's expected from Rachel, and I wouldn't be surprised if it had been Mercedes to, but it was everyone. Why? Honestly, I loved the first song Rachel sang, I think it's one of her best. Artie is an awful director, he seriously only says bad things about performances unless they are exactly what he wants. It kind of makes me crazy. Anyway, I'm looking forward to January! They would have Sam join the swim team..haha, like I said, can. Not. Wait.
ps. Rory was talking to Sam about Valentine's day, there's hope!

Season 3- Sectionals!

(SPOILER ALERT) So I was kind of annoyed that the Trouble Tones didn't win cause they were so good and the New Directions kind of bug me. Like a lot. But the New Directions did do pretty well, I just don't think it was better than the Trouble Tones. Oh, and the Unitards were AMAZING. I honestly thought they were gonna win, but of course the writers would never do that because then they wouldn't have a show would they? For those of you who watched "the glee project", didn't you love seeing Lindsay again? I heard that because people liked her so much, she's getting a third episode, so hopefully we haven't seen the last of her. I'm happy the writers have decided Damian can speak again, but they need to have him sing more! I really hope they keep him permanently because if they don't they kind of just wasted his time. He had to move here from Ireland, cut off from all of his friends and family, and quit his job with the Celtic Thunder just to do it. For any Samuel fans, don't worry he's coming soon, I think his debut is episode 10 or 11, so one of the ones after the Christmas break. What do you think of Sebastian? I like him, but that's partly because I don't like Kurt and Blaine very much.
Thoughts on any of this? Please comment and follow!

Sectionals! Are you ready?!

A little preview for tonight, hope you guys are as excited as I am!
(sorry its so small)

Close up of the Gleek -Rory Flanagan

Rory is an Irish exchange student living with Brittany (who he has a big crush on) and is played by Damian McGinty, an extremely talented 19 year old earned a spot on glee through a tv show that aired during the summer called "The Glee Project". Even before The Glee Project, Damian was famous in Ireland as he was the youngest member of a band called Celtic Thunder since he was 14, and doing many performances before that. The Glee Project auditioned over 40,000 people, cut it down to 80, then 40,  then 24, and then the final 12 got to be on the televised part of the glee project. The show consisted of a "homework assignment" song where they would try to incorporate that week's lesson into their performance (ex. dance-ability, tenacity, vulnerability, etc.). Every week a guest judge who was on glee would watch their number and pick whoever did the best as the winner. The winner would get one-on-one time with the guest judge to work on their singing/acting/dancing, etc. Then they would have a main assignment where they each had a few lines of a song and they would film a music video. Based on their performance, acting, singing, dancing, and attitude, the choreographer and the glee project host Robert Ulrich would pick the three people that did the worst that week and they would have to do a last chance performance for Ryan Murphy, a writer of glee. Ryan, Robert, and the choreographer Zach would debate over who to send home. Damian made it all the way to the finals, all though he was in the bottom 3 in the first week, and many times after that. He became best friends with Cameron Mitchell on the show, who ended up saving him. after not being in the bottom three for a long time, he did a less than satisfactory job and was there again. Ryan was very critical of Damian's performance of "Danny Boy" and had nothing nice to say. Cameron came out and did a great job, but later broke down and decided this wasn't for him and left, later learning Damian would have been sent home. In the final episode, Damian sings "Beyond the Sea" dedicated to Cameron and his other friend on the show, Hannah. Damian actually ties with Samuel Larsen for the 7 episodes, but when announcing it, they just say "Sam...you have won the glee project!", so Damian thinks he has lost. He is very polite and says that it's hard to get so close, but he's happy for Sam and that he really deserves it. Then Ryan says "Well, the thing I wanted to tell you is that you have also won the glee project." Damian then jumps up and down as the confetti canon goes off and he celebrates with the rest of the finalists saying he's so proud that he's won and that it shows someone can come 5,000 miles from home and can win a world wide competition. Even though he has won the glee project and is very busy filming, he is also helping out a very worthy cause: Haiti, who is still struggling from a hurricane that hit 2 years ago. Damian is a great singer, actor, and all around just a good person and I love seeing him on glee!

Glee catch up: Season 3 (first 8 episodes)

In the season the opener, we find that Sam Evans had to move and so the New Directions is, again, one person short. They perform a number in the cafeteria and when they finish no one does anything at first, but then a food fight commences. Though it seemed catastrophic, one person did seem to like it. Sugar Motta, a very rich and spoiled girl walks into glee club saying she was inspired by their performance. Then she goes on to say that they were dreadful and she was way better than all of them and sings an awful rendition of "Big Spender". Rachel tells Mr. Shu he can't let her in because she was so bad. He feels bad but eventually agrees and tells Sugar that she didn't make it. Sugar takes to this angrily and has her father give money to McKinley to start a new choir group starring her and has Shelby Corcoran; a legend in show choir winning 4 consecutive national championships for vocal adrenaline before retiring, hired as the director of it. As the glee club is trying to decide a number for sectionals, they also hold auditions for the musical: West Side Story. Rachel and Mercedes, both extremely strong singers and performers try out for the lead, Maria. When the directors can't come to a decision, they hold call backs and finally decide to have them share the role. While Rachel is happy about this, Mercedes is outraged she didn't get the role to herself, and that everyone gives Rachel whatever she wants and she was finished taking it. She promptly quit the musical and New Directions to join Shelby Corcoran's group. The next week Mercedes tries to get Santana to join. She is very tempted, but doesn't want to leave Brittany, her girlfriend. Meanwhile, Irish exchange student Rory Flanagan is staying at Brittany's house who he has a huge crush on. Brittany, not being very bright thinks he is a leprechaun because he's from Ireland, can hardly ever understand what he says, and makes wishes on him. Santana is extremely displeased when she learns about Rory and scares him into getting  Brittany to join Shelby's show choir with her. Rory is happy when he meets Finn and recognizes him from youtube when he "lost nationals after tongue kissing your girlfriend for ten minutes". Finn asks Rory how he's fitting in and he says he hasn't really made friends besides Brittany. He asks Finn to be his friend and Finn seems uninterested at first but then decides to be his friend. As the competition heats up for sectionals, Shelby Corcoran's group gets a name: The Trouble Tones, because as Mercedes said, "we're trouble for the other glee club" In the preview for next week's episode, Sam Evans is shown- is he possibly coming back to the New Directions to help them against the Trouble Tones? Only time will tell, but the competition looks fierce!

Glee catch up: Season 2 Part 2

After the break for Christmas, the members of New Directions that are in glee club and football are being pushed around and made fun of by their football teammates. In order to stop the bullying, Mr. Shu and Coach Beiste have the football team and the glee club do a performance together for the last game of the season's halftime show. At the same time, Sue is feeling bored with her life, and decides to spice it up with  some danger. She buys a canon for her next cheerios competition. The canon is extremely unsafe, and bows the dummy they used in the test to bits, but Sue is still insisting that Brittany be fired from it. When Mr. Figgins tells her she's not allowed to use the canon, Sue goes into a fit of rage and tells Quinn, Brittany, and Santana that they have to choose once and for all: glee club or cheerios? With some encouragement from Finn, they choose glee, leaving Sue without her three best performers. Unsurprisingly, Sue loses the competition. The glee club and the football team ended up doing a great performance, but when Finn talks to Dave Krofsky (the main bully who was so mean to one New Directions member, he moved schools) about joining glee club permanently, he laughs and says he's on top now that they won the championship game, so why would he want to change that? At Regionals, the New Directions decide to write their own songs. Rachel writes "Get It Right" about how she feels that she can never do things right. The rest of the club works together on the song "Loser Like Me" about how Sue treats them. Both great songs, and a wonderful performance earns them first place, which means they are going to Nationals in New York. At Nationals, they write their own songs again, but very unrealistically, they have no set list or choreography before even getting to New York, but manage to put on a great performance anyway. While in the bathroom before the performance, Rachel runs into Sunshine Corazon. Sunshine is looking very stressed out and says that due to the intensity of the Vocal Adrenaline coach, she doesn't even like singing anymore and was going to quit after this performance. Rachel is uncharacteristically nice to Sunshine and tells her not to worry about her coach and just do her best because she loves it. They hug and wish each other luck. Vocal Adrenaline does well and earns a spot in the top ten (the teams that move on to the next round), but the New Directions just miss it, getting 12th place. Though everyone is devastated, they are all happy to have gone and that they have next year to compete as well.

Glee catch up: Season 2 Part 1

The season 2 opener finds New Directions after summer vacation. Some new developments in relationships are: Tina has dumped Artie for Mike, and now Artie is dating Brittany, and the New Directions are one team member short. Matt, one of the football players, has transferred to another school. Mr. Shu has the glee club perform "Empire State of Mind" in the school courtyard to encourage more people to sign up. Though most of the people laughed or paid absolutely no attention, they did manage to find two people who might think about it and would be excellent additions to the team: Sam Evans; a sophomore who just moved to town, and Sunshine Corazon. Finn befriends Sam, who is very open to the idea of joining glee club, until he sees Finn kicked off the football team and bullied. He decides not to audition and focus just on fitting in and making friends for a while. When Rachel puts up signs for glee club in the bathroom, she sees Sunshine and recognizes her from when they did "Empire State of Mind" (Sunshine was one of the few people paying attention and enjoying it). Rachel tells her she should audition, but later finds out Sunshine is an extraordinary singer and feels threatened by her. In the end, Rachel gives Sunshine a fake address for an audition to scare her. Rachel does eventually apologize, and Sunshine gets a real audition, but the director of vocal adrenaline catches wind from Sue (who is still out to get the glee club) about Sunshine's talent and gets her to switch schools and join vocal adrenaline. A few weeks later, Sam finally comes around and joins New Directions. The assignment for the week is duets, and to make it more fun, Mr. Shu added the prize of a free dinner for two for the winner. Quinn is partners with Sam and at first tries to push away her feelings for him, but when they go to dinner at Bread sticks for winning the assignment, Quinn tells Sam he can't use the gift card because a gentleman always pays on the first date. The week of sectionals the kids are fighting like never before and everyone is angry with each other. First Mr. Shu informs them that they will be featuring Mike and Brittany's great dancing. Rachel asks confused, and sort of annoyed, "Wait, they're going to be dancing in front of me while Finn and I sing?" Then Mr. Shu drops the bomb, "No, you're not singing at sectionals." He decides to have Quinn and Sam sing a duet as their opening number, and Santana to sing their final one. Needless to say, Rachel is furious about not being in the spotlight. Meanwhile Tina is worried that Mike is cheating on her with Brittany, and Tina warns Artie about it. So the four of them are arguing, and while Rachel still doesn't get to sing, she finds out a secret Finn has been keeping from her and is threatening to not even compete (she would be a 12th member) when Mr. Shu comes in and tells them to get a grip and go perform. They have a spectacular performance (my personal favorite) and the choreography is simply amazing. They tie for first place and are moving on to regionals. After they win, Rachel tells Finn that she cheated on him with Puck when they were fighting, and Finn promptly breaks up with her, leaving her heartbroken. In the Christmas episode before the break, Rachel tries to get Finn to talk to her, but he avoids her and tells her he's not ready to get over what she did.
New Directions performance of Valerie :)

Glee catch up: Season1 Part 2

The second part of season 2 starts with a very happy Rachel, because she is finally dating the boy of her dreams: Finn Hudson. Finn broke things off with Quinn a week before sectionals, and is finding it hard to adjust to being Rachel's boyfriend. He tells her this, and she is furious, calling him a coward for being worried about his reputation, rather than following his heart. Later, she is in the library picking out a song for the weeks assignment ("hello") when she meets Jesse St. James; the best singer in vocal adrenaline, which is a rival school that New Directions is scheduled to compete against at Regionals. She begins dating him, but is reprimanded by her fellow glee clubbers because it's quite suspicious that he starts dating the best singer in their glee club right after they won sectionals. Luckily, she is saved from making that choice by the next episode, Jesse has transfers to McKinley and joins New Directions. A few weeks later though, Rachel finds herself wishing she had just dumped Jesse for good when her friends told her to. Jesse dumps her and goes back to Vocal Adrenaline to put her and the New Directions in a funk a week before Regionals. They perform a wonderful medley of Journey songs because the first good number they ever performed was "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey. Unfortunately, Vocal Adrenaline has an outstanding performance as well, good enough in fact, to take first place. The New Directions don't even take second place. Mr. Shu's original agreement with Principal Figgins was that if they didn't place at Regionals, they would cancel the glee club. Just when it seems all hope is lost, none other than Sue Sylvester comes and saves the day. Saying that she couldn't stand a world where she wasn't always able to make fun of Will's glee club, she convinces Figgins to give the glee club another year.

Glee catch up: Season 1 Part 1

Fox's huge hit, Glee is in the middle of its 3rd highly successful season. If you haven't been watching it, keep reading and I'll tell you everything you need to know. In the first season, the young Spanish teacher, Mr. Schuester at McKinley High School in Ohio starts up the glee club after the director is fired. He calls it New Directions and 5 people audition. They are truly terrible at first; all decent singers, but uncoordinated and inexperienced, except for of course, miss Rachel Berry. Rachel is a fantastic singer and has been performing her whole life, and never misses a chance to shine in the spotlight. While Mr. Schuester is trying to recruit new members to join, he hears sophomore Finn Hudson singing in the locker room after football practice. Mr. Shu convinces Finn to join by giving him extra credit in Spanish, which he is struggling in. Rachel is thrilled with this because she has a huge crush on Finn, even though he has a girlfriend. Finn's girlfriend is your typical football quarterback's girlfriend, of course head cheerleader, or as they say "cheerio", Quinn Fabray. Quinn is a mean, smart girl and her best friends are Cheerios Brittany Pearce and Santana Lopez. By the second episode, Quinn is extremely unhappy about Finn and Rachel's new friendship, and Sue Sylvester is just as unhappy about Mr. Shu's glee club. Sue decides the best way to bring it down is from the inside. Quinn, Brittany, and Santana all try out for the glee club and Mr.Shu is only too happy to have more members, as they need 12 to compete at upcoming sectionals. A few of Finn's football friends have joined, so now they have exactly 12 people. Coming up to sectionals, Mr. Shu notices they aren't taking glee as seriously because their competition is a school for the deaf and a school for juvenile delinquent girls. To get them back into the competition, he has the do a girls vs. boys mash up competition. Meanwhile, Finn is feeling stressed with his schoolwork, glee club, football, staying popular, and everything else on his mind. He finds himself exhausted, and visits the school nurse. She gives him something she took in high school to stay up beat and energetic: vitamin D. Finn feels fantastic after using it and has all the boys take it, giving them the energy for a spectacular performance. One of the boys, Kurt Hummel, tells the girls how they did so well and the girls take a page out of their book and do the same thing. Principal Figgins doesn't approve and instates someone to help Mr. Shu direct the glee club because he wasn't doing a satisfactory job. Unfortunately, he picks Sue Sylvester of all people. She first splits them up and tries to turn them against each other. After a week or two though, she resigns. Somehow she manages to get their set list for sectionals and has the schools going against McKinley do their songs so it will look like the New Directions copied them. Miraculously, they come up with two songs and some rough choreography that wins them first place!
